Watch Football at Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC

The tourist or visitor to Inverness need not miss out on watching good football. Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC (Inverness Caley) won promotion to the Scottish Premier League (SPL) in the season 2009-10 after an impressive performance in the 1st Division and have done well since. If you’ve never seen an SPL game expect a fast paced, hard but fair game.

Even if Inverness Caley is not a familiar name, some of their opponents will be, due to their European exploits. Celtic (1967 European Cup winners) will be familiar. Also fairly well known in Europe are Aberdeen (Cup Winners Cup 1983) and Dundee Utd (Uefa Cup finalists 1987). Each of these teams will play in Inverness at least twice each season. Rangers (European Cup Winners Cup 1972) may well make the occasional appearance in one of the cup competitions.

The team is managed by Terry Butcher, ex England (77 caps) and Rangers. His assistant is Maurice Malpas ex Scotland (55 caps) and Dundee Utd, so the squad has a lot of experience to draw from.

The Inverness Caledonian football ground is about 1 mile from Inverness train Station near the Kessock bridge. It holds less than 8000 supporters but you can normally buy tickets on match days.
