There are a number of bike hire businesses in Inverness and the surrounding area and if you are stuck for a route ask them to suggest one. Most will rent out bikes on a half day or daily basis with discounts for longer term bike hire. You will probably be provided with a mountain bike however some provide electric and more specialist road bikes.
There are lots of cycle route possibilities in and around Inverness. Highland Council produce a handy walking and cycling leaflet which includes short descriptions of some bike routes. Popular bike routes from Inverness include a route to Culloden Battlefield and Clava Cairns. Across the Kessock Bridge to the Black Isle and along the Caledonian Canal to Dochgarroch Link. There are also shorter routes around Inverness and the River Ness.
Mountain Biking in Scotland has really taken off with some great routes and tracks nearby. The top routes for enthusiasts are the Learnie Red Rock Trails on the Black Isle just over the Kessock Bridge from Inverness. With 16km graded trails (green to black) there's something for every skill level.
